Quality control and inspection recruitment

The people on the shop floor who pick it up, check it and prove it.

Quality control is the hands-on side of quality. Where quality assurance looks after the system, quality control checks the product itself: picking up the component in the factory, measuring it, testing it and deciding whether it passes. We recruit the inspectors and technicians who do that work, at goods-in, on the line and before despatch.

Roles we recruit

Quality Control Inspectors, Goods-In, In-Process and Final Inspectors, First Article Inspectors, QC Technicians and QC Analysts, CMM Operators, Test Technicians, Quality Controllers and Inspection Team Leaders.

What a quality control inspector does

Checks dimensions. Measures components against the engineering drawing using micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread and plug gauges, shadowgraphs and CMMs.

Checks torque. Verifies that fasteners and assemblies are tightened to specification, and that torque tools are reading correctly.

Checks temperature and other properties. Tests and records temperature, hardness, pressure, surface finish, weight or electrical values, depending on the product.

Inspects visually. Looks for damage, contamination, finish and assembly defects that a gauge will not find.

Inspects at every stage. Goods-in checks on supplied parts, in-process patrol inspection on the shop floor, first-off and first article inspection, and final inspection before despatch.

Decides pass or fail. Accepts, rejects or quarantines parts, raises non-conformance reports and feeds problems back to production.

Records the results. Completes inspection reports, first article inspection reports and certificates of conformity, and monitors trends using statistical process control.

Looks after the equipment. Keeps gauges and measuring equipment in calibration and fit for use.

Sectors

Aerospace, defence, automotive, motorsport, medical devices, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, additive manufacturing, food and beverage, marine and energy.

How we recruit quality control staff

You receive a shortlist of three or four people, typically within one to two weeks, and we interview every candidate before we put them forward. Our lead recruiter has spent over 20 years in measurement and quality, so we check the things a CV cannot show: which equipment someone has really used, and whether they can read a drawing.
